The largest provider of information technology (IT) services in India, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), announced on Friday that as of June 30, its workforce totalled 606,331—a net increase of 14,136 over the previous three months.
According to the organisation, there are 153 different nationalities represented in the workforce, and women make up 35.5% of the base.
“Our team has been energized by our investment in strategic talent development initiatives and the linkage of learning to career growth. Following our yearly compensation review, employees earned wage increases ranging from 5% to 8%, with top performers receiving even larger raises, according to Milind Lakkad, TCS’s chief human resources officer.
“We are attracting local talent in all of our core markets thanks to our empowering, performance-driven workplace culture. The staff strength passed the 600,000 barriers in the third quarter as a result of ongoing hiring momentum, the executive continued.
In Q1, the company accelerated its return-to-office programme progressively, and as a result, around 20% of the workforce is currently based in offices.
However, despite the expansion of the workforce, the attrition rate for IT services increased to 19.7% during the previous year.
“We are delighted with how the quarter went, especially because we completed several transformation programmes. The investments we made in people, including lateral hiring efforts and upskilling initiatives, helped us manage the talent turnover with the least amount of disruption to our operations “said N Ganapathy Subramaniam, executive director and chief operating officer of TCS.
“We resumed in-person meetings during the quarter and entertained several clients at our premises. At all levels, we are consistently sending more of our workers back to our development centres.”
As part of its expansion into the th and transformation opportunities, the company stated that it is continuing to invest in the development of organic talent. TCS employees put in 12 million hours of learning in the first quarter, which led to the acquisition of 1.7 million competencies.
