Swiggy, an on-demand delivery service, has announced a permanent work-from-anywhere option for the majority of roles and expanded its Future of Work policy.
The firm said in a statement on Friday that the decision was made based on team needs and input from various managers and employees who vouched for the freedom and enhanced productivity working from home has afforded them in the last two years.
The corporate, central business functions and technology teams will all continue to operate remotely under the strategy, converging once every three months for a week at their base site to foster in-person bonding.
A hybrid working model would be employed for employees that work in the partner-facing positions and have to work in the office of their base location for at least a few days a week.
Swiggsters are currently employed across the nation in 487 cities in 27 States and 4 UTs.
The future of our workforce is in flexibility. According to Swiggy, they wanted to provide their employees with as much freedom within the bounds of their jobs. After observing the latest trends worldwide, the employees at Swiggy also considered the opinions of their leaders, managers, and workers.
This prompted us to offer employees the flexibility of flexible work and leisure schedules wherever they may be by adopting “work from anywhere” as a permanent option, according to Girish Menon, HR Head at Swiggy.
To become a true remote-first organization, swiggy will have to continue working on enhancing innovations at work, workplace experience, and employee experience.
According to the nature of their work, Swiggy was one of the first few start-ups to operate on a flexible working model for employees starting in 2020.
