He is currently leading the EdTech practices at Network18 Media & Investments Ltd. in the broadcast and digital space.
He also espoused the richness, relevance and timing of content to make it big in the digital era.
“My objective of today is to simplify the large trend”, Das initiated the webinar by saying this. He continued talking about the three primary trends that are impacting India. The first trend is ‘consolidation’ and the second is ‘local content’. He mentioned that local content is still the king at this point of time in India. He stated that ‘Mirzapur’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ are examples of regional content that are ruling. The third primary trend is ‘Conglomeration of the Digital Space and Television’.
He opined that regional content is the next national content and mobile phones are the next televisions. The mobiles are where the future is as they can be customised for content, which is not possible on television.
Das predicted the growth of local content and discussed the current trends in the digital entertainment industry. He said, “In future, monetization will become very high and content could be consumed anywhere and anytime on television. Also, DIY content will receive more focus.” Shedding some light on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the digital space, he discussed its growth and accuracy in the coming times to capture consumer demographics. “It is also extremely important to make content available to everyone at the most affordable price”, he said.
Disney acquired Fox and Concast acquired Sky for a huge amount of money. So these mergers and conglomerations constitute the next media trend. He said that a lot of people wonder as to whether the digital platform will rule the future or television maintaining that it will be both together.
